Brief
Database Administrator needed for a leading defence and security organisation with offices in Yeovil who are looking to employ a number of experienced and well-rounded Database Administrators that takes pride in their work.
As a Database Administrator on the Infrastructure Engineering team, you will have the chance to grow your skills in Database Administration at a large scale. This role will also give you the opportunity for career progression and development across the business.
What the role of the Database Administrator entails:
Some of the main duties of the Database Administrator will include:
- Using Oracle database management system software and tools to collect the agreed performance statistics
- Carrying out the agreed database maintenance using Oracle toolsets
- Completing administration tasks for both legacy and future projects
- Supporting the design and implementation of projects in the initial phases
- Identifying and resolving issue with applications following agreed procedures
- Planning, scheduling, and monitoring own work competently within limited deadlines and according to relevant legislation and procedures
What experience you need to be the successful Database Administrator:
Essential skills:
- Working knowledge of the installation and setup of database instances in order to support customers
- Technical understanding of Unix operating environment
- Exposure to both Linux and Windows
Desirable skills:
- Experience of Oracle 12C/19C
- Good understanding of PL/SQL
