Electrical Assembly Technician needed for a leading defence and aerospace organisation based in Bedfordshire. This dynamic part of the company has both domestic and international customers. It consists of business areas focusing on Platform Integration, Ground Based Air Defence, Special Projects and Weapons, which provide a variety of products and services to the Ministry of Defence and other customers. The specific job description of the Electrical Assembly Technician:
The Electrical Assembly Technician will:
A competent Electrical Assembly Technician is required for this fantastic opportunity, capable of electrical and mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems working from drawings and engineering instruction. Competent and safe use of all hand tools. Use of Jigs, fixtures and measuring tools on precision assemblies Problem solver with a positive attitude. Working with support from engineering group a methodical and precise approach to ensure successful completion of production tasks on high value hardware.
Skills and experience of the Electrical Assembly Technician:
The qualities that would be beneficial for the Electrical Assembly Technician:
- Able to solder to IPC JSTD workmanship levels
- A comprehensive range of Cable/Harness installation and routing/connecting to IPC 620 workmanship levels
- Able to identify pass/fail criteria for soldering/wire stripping/Crimping standards
- Comprehensive understanding of drawing & Schematics, able to interpret drawings and work from written instructions with limited supervision.
- Comprehensive understanding hand Tools i.e. Stripping Devices/Crimp tools/Positioners/Banding Tool and measuring equipment with high accuracy.
- Either recognised apprenticeship in mechanical assembly or equivalent or through work experience gained on the job.
- Good IT literacy
- Cleanliness and housekeeping (5S) methodology.
- A high level of health and safety awareness.
Please note: This position does require someone to hold a British passport and is eligible for SC clearance.
