This role will provide on the job training and a development plan offering great opportunities to be part of succession plan in an ever growing ILS department, working on multiple long term projects.
Candidates with an electrical background and an interest in producing technical writing / illustration documents are encouraged to apply!
What the role of the Electrical Technical Author entails:
Some of the main duties of the Electrical Technical Author will include:
- Undertaking authoring and illustration tasks to produce Training Aid Books (TAB) and Composite Diagrams (CD) required to construct procedural documents for all classes of UK submarines, both in-service and future platforms
- Being responsible for Verification and Validation of TABs, CDs
- Working alongside other Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) teams to provide support and interpretation of Technical Information from external suppliers and the Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP)
- Interpreting technical data including (but not limited to) drawings, manufacturers handbooks and design safety justifications for the production of Training Aid Books and Composite Diagrams
What experience you need to be the successful Electrical Technical Author:
Essential:
- Time served Electrical engineer
- Experience working with technical documentation including drawings and manufacturers handbooks
Desirable:
- Experience in a Technical Authoring Role
- Full understanding of the use of user guides and standards relating to illustration production
- Working knowledge of authoring or illustrating software
