Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager - Major Infrastructure Project, West London
12-month contract | £500-£600/day (Inside IR35)
Leading main contractor seeks a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to join their team delivering a major infrastructure project in West London. This is a high-risk, high-profile environment that requires strong HSW leadership, cultural influence, and operational governance across a complex civil engineering package.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager will be responsible for driving implementation of the Health & Safety Management Systems, influencing leadership teams, contributing to the overall strategic HSW direction, and ensure alignment across multiple delivery partners and work packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the HSW strategy across the region
- Enforce compliance with internal policies, statutory obligations, and client requirements
- Advise operational leaders on practical deployment of H&S processes
- Support senior management in understanding stakeholder priorities and risk profiles
- Contribute to developing and reviewing project H&S plans
- Provide guidance on accident prevention, wellbeing controls, and risk reduction
- Monitor, review, and improve the Health & Safety Management System
- Maintain external stakeholder relationships, including regulatory bodies and authorities
- Lead and support H&S surveillance and audits; participate in parent company audits
- Support subcontractor competence assessment and selection
- Support preparation of risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Analyse and report on H&S performance; identify trends and interventions
- Lead or support investigations into incidents and near misses
- Deliver training and briefings where required
- Capture and share best practice across delivery teams
- Maintain professional competency and required certifications
- Apply environmental and sustainability requirements relevant to HSW delivery
Essential Requirements
- Minimum five years' construction/infrastructure H&S experience
- Degree, Diploma, NCRQ, NVQ or equivalent in a relevant field
- Progressing toward CMIOSH
- Evidence of collaborative working across multi-disciplinary environments
Desirable
- ILM Level 5 or equivalent leadership training
- Training and development qualifications
This is a 12 month contract opportunity with a date rate of £500 to £600. The role is inside IR35 and will be paid through an umbrella company.
