Brief

PCB Engineer needed for a leading engineering firm based in the Rochester area who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded PCB Engineer that takes pride in their work.

You will work alongside the NPI Team and Process Engineers to support the design, development, and manufacture of PCBA's across multiple development projects. You will take the product through the Design for Manufacture maturity stage gates and will be responsible for ensuring that the development cards can be manufactured to the Project time scales.

What the role of the PCB Engineer entails:

Some of the main duties of the PCB Engineer will include:

• Providing the technical link between the Operations and Engineering function for the design of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs)
• Ensuring PCBA assembly designs are taken through the Design for Manufacture life-cycle management process
• Performing the Operations sign-off for PCBA drawings
• Working with the Process Engineering team to create build planning to manufacture the initial prototype and qualification builds
• Transferring the PCBA's out of NPI and into Production once product has passed qualification
• Being the Principle Subject Matter Expert for PCBA process to both Projects and Operations teams
• Working with Process Owners in the identification of future PCBA technology

What experience you need to be the successful PCB Engineer:

Essential:

• Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
• Experience of working within a PCBA Manufacturing environment (Including: SMT, Vapour Phase/Convection Reflow, Wave Solder, Selective Solder, Manual Assembly and Conformal Coating)
• Critically reviewing designs and application of DFM methodologies to PCBA designs
• Planning and managing development PCBA builds demands across the different Project stakeholders
• Creation and delivery of manufacturing instructions for build technicians
• Root cause capability to investigate manufacturing issues that arise during development board manufacture

Desirable:

• IPC-600, IPC610 and IPC-2581 Qualified
• Working within an EN9100 / AS9145 compliant environment
• Experience of using Circuit CAM / Fusion Analytics /ODB++
• Knowledge of PCBA test processes
