Senior Design Engineer.
Dorking / Horsham / Leatherhead / Crawley

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer who can strengthen our Design Team and work within a wide range of industrial sectors like Rail, Defence, Automotive, Nuclear Power, Oil and Gas, Aerospace.
You will join an established and growing Mechanical Design Team that specialise in delivering bespoke design solutions for a range of clients.
You should be able to apply creative design skills to large and small complex tasks in a consultancy environment. Typical projects would involve the design of mechanical handling systems, unique or early stage products, special purpose equipment, proof of principle prototypes and bespoke test rigs for plant or facilities.
The job involves taking responsibility for all aspects of design projects from initial scoping of the work and conceptual design to delivery of completed substantiated designs and then supporting these through manufacture and commissioning.
You will have contact with clients throughout the project you are working on, typically that will inviolve defining the work scope, preparing proposals, holding technical meetings, preparing and delivering presentations, attending design reviews, writing technical reports and producing, reviewing and approving engineering and manufacturing drawings.
You will be able to demonstrate exceptional technical and design skills and the ability to apply these across a range of industries.
You will be proficient in 3D CAD; Siemens NX / Solidworks or Pro Engineer/CREO.
Experience in drawing production, verification and approval is essential and administrating CAD and PDM systems would be a distinct advantage.
You will also have a good understanding of the following:
- Ability or experience in the application of the generic and client specific design processes from concept through to detail design and manufacture support
- Producing design justification through the use of analytical skills (hand calculations and/or FEA)
- Report writing and communication skills
Experience in or knowledge of the following would be an advantage:
- Bespoke equipment design
- Test facility design (static or rotating rigs or gas turbine related),
- Nuclear power generation systems and equipment
- Defence domain (Marine, Land, Air)
In order to be considered for this role you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance to SC level.
