Brief
Senior Pavements Advisor needed to come on board and join a well-established highways organization. As a Senior Pavements Advisor, you will become an integral part of a national team of pavement specialists; to provide technical direction and assurance for pavements infrastructure. It will require you to be responsible for further maintaining and developing pavement policy, standards and best practice as well as developing collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
It's important for the successful candidate to have a Degree in Civil Engineering, or another relevant discipline, and be Chartered or near Chartership with a relevant professional institute (IHE, CIWEM, ICE or CIHT).
What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Senior Pavements Advisor will include:
- Reporting to the Principal Advisor / Team Leader.
- Acting as a source of specialist advice to colleagues (including supporting scheme delivery, strategic planning for RIS development, reporting asset condition metrics).
- Maintain and update the relevant pavements' sections of the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges (DMRB) and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
- Support the review of departures so we can ensure innovative, non-compliant solutions are appropriately assessed.
- Demonstrate efficiencies and value for money across a programme of projects.
- Mentor colleagues and manage supplier resources and contracts.
What experience you need to be the successful Senior Pavements Advisor:
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (CEng, IEng, MICE, or IStructE) and/or a relevant degree and extensive relevant experience.
- Proven experience of developing solutions and providing specialist advice in Pavements.
- Strong networking and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels (with colleagues and stakeholders) and present results.
