Systems Engineer needed for a highly reputable defence and aerospace organisation based in New Malden. A key member of the Systems Engineering function, this role ensures programme work is delivered on time, budget and to the required scope through robust plans. The Defence Systems Engineering Team provides support across the three programme areas (Surface Ships, Submarines and Naval Services), helping drive the other functions through the Project Lifecycle from Customer needs to Validation (and closeout).
The specific job description of the Systems Engineer :
For this role in particular the Systems Engineer:
- Drive Systems Enginering process on programmes
- Successfully deliver key milestone design reviews
- Customer relationship development
- Lead integration of other engineering disciplines
- Technical management of suppliers
- Capture and analyse customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain systems requirements.
- Develop and document System Engineering processes
Essential qualifications and experience of the Systems Engineer:
The Systems Engineer will need:
- Proven experience, with general Systems Engineering models and techniques knowledge
- Degree qualified in relevant engineering subject
- Exceptional people and communication skills
- Hardware design experience
- Defence background, previous project experience in defence realm, DOORS is highly desirable.
The preferred qualifications and experience of the Systems Engineer:
- Knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS or similar).
- Knowledge of marine electronic equipment and/or the marine environment.
- Knowledge of Maritime machinery and plant systems and control.
- Familiar with military environmental standards (e.g. DEF STAN 00-35, 59-411)
- Knowledge and experience of safety critical systems.
- Experience of conducting EMC/Vibration/Shock qualification testing with external test houses INCOSE Associate/Chartered Systems Engineering Professional
