Brief
Assistant Project Manager needed for a leading defence and security organisation with offices in the Portsmouth area who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Assistant Project Manager that takes pride in their work.
The successful candidate will have great communication skills both written and verbally. They should also have the ability to liaise with stakeholders at various levels and be able to capture evaluate share and communicate best practices
What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Assistant Project Manager will include:
- Advanced Project reporting internally to the business and with externally to customers
- Supporting project delivery to time costs and quality
- Opportunity for owning specific work packages for delivery
- Advanced Project schedule management and cost management
- Advanced Problem solving, addressing emergent issues and putting in place resolution plans with project stakeholders
- Influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve business success
- Developing proposals for small bids to enable contract growth, including preparing basis of estimates and paperwork to take through business approval
- Engage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as customers and suppliers
- Deputise for the Project Manager, as appropriate
What experience you need to be the successful Assistant Project Manager:
Essential:
- Experience in a Project Management environment
- Previous stakeholder management experience
- Familiar with the Microsoft Office packages including Microsoft Office Project (Scheduling Tool) and Excel
Desirable:
- Hold relevant Project Management qualification or certification
- Previous experience in the defence industry
- Previous experience of supporting or managing bids
- Agile Project Management experience
