Principal Safety Engineer
£50,000 - £60,000
SC Clearance required / ability to achieve SC clearance.
We have a new vacancy for a Principal Safety Engineer in Cumbria for a globally recognised client.
In this role you will be working in a team responsible for producing the Nuclear Safety Case. You will liaise with Design Authorities and Operators for the production and implementation of Safety Cases and interface with external Regulatory bodies.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to make a difference within a wide range of nuclear projects.
Principal Safety Engineer responsibilities:
Providing written justification and analysis to support the Nuclear Site Safety Case
Producing safety analysis documentation, including HAZOP, ALARP, HAZID, PSA, QRA
Leading and supervising junior team members undertaking Safety case work
Undertaking probabilistic and/or deterministic safety analyses
Writing safety reports documenting clear and concise arguments and technical content to form a 'fit for purpose' safety case.
Skills and qualifications:
Degree level qualification in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline
Practical experience of a structured approach to safety case analysis and production in a high hazard industry
Experience using structured methodologies around safety cases
Experience of producing safety case documentation
A sound understanding of the structure of modern standards nuclear safety cases, including Deterministic and Probabilistic Safety Assessment and engineering substantiation
