Quality Manager

Job Purpose:
To manage the quality functions, approvals and systems. Be a hands-on individual who will be involved in all aspects of the company's quality activities.
The company
We are a leading distributor and stockist of approved fasteners & hardware servicing the global aerospace industry. Swift Aerospace partners with major aerospace OEM's and their supply chains to source aerospace fasteners/hardware and are experts in the design of bespoke inventory management solutions.
We specialise in the sourcing, stocking & distribution of fully traceable British, European and American standard hardware - in particular AN, MS, NAS and Kaynar Microdot specification fasteners and hardware as well as "difficult to locate" parts.
From fast response to ad hoc requirements to the design, implementation and management of more complex inventory solutions, we take the time to understand the specific requirements of your business.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Accountable for the day-to-day maintenance of the AS9120 standard which includes the following:
- Manage two direct line reports and assist in the mentoring and development of the quality
- team.
- Supporting the maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System
- (QMS) and quality assurance functions.
- Liaising with customers and suppliers regarding quality related concerns.
- Hosting external audits from customers, regulatory bodies & interested parties.
- Ensuring that internal and supplier audits are completed to the audit schedule.
- Administering the inspection of parts and the generation of inspection reports and FAIRS.
- Answerable for the Non-Conformance (NC) and Return Material Authorisation (RMA)
- process.
- Responsible for generation and maintenance of quality metrics and Key Performance Indicators.
- Report to and deputise for the Quality Director
Experience:
- Strong quality background preferably in the aerospace/defence/automotive industry.
- AS9100/AS9120 experience preferable (ISO 9001 Minimum).
- Auditing internal/external.
- Problem solving and root cause investigation techniques.
- Experience with machined parts and associated processes.
- Skilled in reading technical drawings and understand tolerances.
Qualifications:
- Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent in a technical or engineering subject.
Competencies:
- Strong people management skills
- Well organised and self-motivated
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail.
- An enthusiastic individual, team player that can deliver results
- Strong IT skills with the ability to create Key Performance Indicators.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Understanding of quality assurance processes such as APQP, PPAP and FAI.
