Assistant Quantity Surveyor

A professional, forward thinking, multi disclipined property consultancy with a close knit team of property professionals is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, ideally with PQS experience to join their team in Brighton. Working closely with building surveyors, an in-house design & BIM team, architects and project managers, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will become an integral part of their ongoing projects and the companies future.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial delivery of projects through the full life cycle. You'll be given the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects including offices, operating theatres and wards for NHS Trusts, classrooms, communal areas & laboratories for colleges, schools and universities alongside libraries, health care centres and town halls.
The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be joining a friendly team of property professionals with a management team who believe in a strong work life balance alongside delivering a high quality product. Your role as the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will include providing commercial advice to colleagues and external consultants at both pre and post contract stages. Your day to day duties will include:
- Preparing budget estimates alongside cost plans and tender documents
- Preparing and review contract documents
- Working on post contract valuations, cost reports and final account negotiations
- Some project management
- Attending and in some cases chairing site progress meetings.
The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will need to have at least 18 months experience in construction commercial management alongside a degree in a construction related specialism. It's also important that you have a willingness to learn, a passion for your professional alongside good communication skills. You'll also need to live within a reasonable commute of Brighton.
